This film tells three sad love stories in a cross-seasonal way. In "Burning Red Leaves", Sawako (Miho Kanno) is betrayed by her boyfriend Matsumoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima). Unable to bear the blow, she takes pills to commit suicide, but becomes a fool. When Matsumoto learns about this on their wedding day, he feels guilty and runs away from the marriage. He begins to travel around the world with Sawako tied together by a red string. In "The Blue Sea of Summer", the popular idol singer Kasugana (Kyoko Fukada) is disfigured in a traffic accident. In order to accompany her, her devoted fan destroys his own eyes. In "Silent Snow Mountain", an old and sick gangster knows that he has not much time left. On a whim, he revisits his old place and finds that even though the world has changed, his old lover still brings lunch boxes to wait for him at the agreed time and place every Saturday, just like decades ago.
