A noblewoman wakes up and decides that today is her last day on earth. Before leaving, she decides to leave everything behind and sells off all her beloved things in the old mansion: classic paintings, antique dolls, expensive furniture... all of which carry a memory of her past splendid and decadent life. Every time she sells one of them, a part of her soul is liberated. The daughter who has been estranged for 20 years is forced to return to her old home in the hope of stopping her mother's crazy behavior; when the carpet is lifted, the dusty grievances and hatreds emerge before her eyes. Betocheni ("The Tree Wants to Be Still, but the Heart Does Not Rest", 2010) invited Catherine Deneuve to perform the mother-daughter duo with real feelings, and the contradictory family relationship of love and hate is deeply touching.
