Bill Kincaid (Edward Norton), a professor of classical philosophy who is loved by students and has a flourishing career, hurried back to his hometown in Oklahoma, Little Dixie, Tulsa, after hearing the news of the death of his twin brother Brady (Edward Norton). Brady's friend Bolger (Tim Blake Nelson) was in charge of picking him up at the airport, and when he got home, he found that Brady had not been shot by a crossbow.
