Disney adapted the animated film "Pinocchio" into a live-action film, directed by Robert Zemeckis ("Forrest Gump", "Back to the Future"). Disney's 1940 animated film "Pinocchio" was adapted from "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Italian writer Carlo Collodi and won two Oscars.
