Frank (Frank Langella), who has just entered old age, begins to have mild symptoms of dementia, often mental confusion, and unable to communicate normally with people. His two children, Hunter (James Marsden) and Madison (Liv Tyler), provide their father with a robot (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard) to take care of his daily life. Frank couldn't accept this cold robot at first. After the initial running-in, Frank found that this omnipotent robot in front of him not only took care of his daily life carefully, but also stayed by his side quietly and listened to his heart gently. Frank and the robot gradually became good friends. In order to win the favor of librarian Jennifer (Susan Sarandon), the robot followed Frank to stage a shocking case for love. The film made a splash at the 2012 Sundance Independent Film Festival and won the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Award.
