In the 1930s, the ghost of war was hovering over the world. The Nazis believed that witchcraft could help them move towards victory, so they sent their men to look for a convenient "remedy for the world". In 1936, in Revenge Creek, a remote village in West Virginia, the honest and kind-hearted Walner family welcomed an uninvited guest. Dr. Richard Voss (Michael Fassbender), who was affiliated with the North American German Heritage Academic Committee, came here and stayed at Walner's house. Although the family was worried, they gladly accepted Dr. Voss for the sake of money and showed sincere enthusiasm to him, but they never thought that the other party brought incredible disasters. In 2007, policeman Ivan Marshall (Henry Cavill) was in trouble. His brother Victor (Dominic Purcell) disappeared for a time.
