The story takes place in the Qing Dynasty. A new group of young ladies were recommended from the local area to Beijing to participate in the election. Among them were the daughters of prominent families such as Hou Jia Yuying (played by Gigi Lai), the daughter of the Governor of Huguang, and Er Chun (played by Charmaine Sheh), who was born in the three banners. Unexpectedly, the official car transporting these young ladies was robbed by bandits halfway, and the officers and soldiers were killed by bandits. It seemed that these young ladies were about to fall into the hands of bandits. At this time, Kong Wu (played by Moses Chan) and Chen Shuang, who were transporting tribute mangoes to Beijing, passed by and rescued the young ladies. Afterwards, they went through hardships to avoid the pursuit and finally escorted the young ladies to Beijing safely. Hou Jia Yuying and Er Chun became sworn sisters when they were on the run, but in fact, they had their own plans in secret. Er Chun and her two sisters regarded Yuying as their biggest rival, and tried every means to exclude her and make her suffer; Yuying was at the bottom on the surface, pitiful, but she was transparent in her heart and had her own means. The two try to win the emperor's favor, while Erchun tries his best to hide the secret behind him in the dispute. Unexpectedly, the appearance of the imperial physician Sun Baiyang (played by Lam Pou-yee) makes Yuying and Erchun's plans go wrong, and the struggle in the harem becomes more dangerous.
