Bai Suzhen (Sun Xiaoxiao), a thousand-year-old white snake, was enlightened by Guanyin Bodhisattva and came to the mortal world to end a relationship. In the mortal world, Bai Suzhen met Xu Xian, the benefactor who had saved her in her previous life. In order to repay her kindness, Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian met, knew each other, fell in love, and finally got married. Fahai, a monk from Jinshan Temple, took it as his mission to eliminate demons and defend the way. He was used by a trace of evil thoughts in his previous life and tried his best to break up Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian. Bai Suzhen's good sister Xiaoqing and Bai Suzhen fought against Fahai together. Fahai was controlled by evil thoughts and magic, and used all kinds of tricks, even detaining Xu Xian to threaten him. Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing flooded Jinshan Mountain to save Xu Xian, and accidentally committed endless murders. Fahai calculated that the murders committed by Bai Suzhen must be intolerable by heaven, so he refined a purple gold bowl to subdue Bai Suzhen and pressed her under Leifeng Pagoda. Xu Xian did not think Bai Suzhen was a demon, and he loyally waited outside the tower, raising his and Bai Suzhen's son Xu Shilin with great difficulty. In the end, Xu Xian moved the heavens to get rid of the evil monk Fahai, overthrow Leifeng Pagoda, and rescued Bai Suzhen.
