This film is adapted from a true story and is the first film produced by the film department of CBS Broadcasting Company in the United States. John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) and his wife Irene (Keri Russell) have three children. In addition to the eldest son, the other two children suffer from Pompe disease. After a complication of his second daughter was rescued, John impulsively flew to the University of Nebraska to meet Professor Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford), a leading expert in the field of Pompe disease research, and promised to establish a Pompe research fund to support Professor Stonehill's research and apply theoretical results to drug practice as soon as possible. The unsympathetic Professor Stonehill was moved by the sincerity of John's family and decided to resign and co-found a biochemical startup company with John to develop drugs for Pompe disease. In order to attract investment for the new company, John had to overcome a series of difficulties, and even frequently annoyed Professor Stonehill, who was already extremely difficult to get along with, and raced against death with all his strength...
