Patterson (Adam Driver) lives in Patterson, New Jersey. This man with the same name as his hometown is a bus driver. He lives a dull cohabitation life with his girlfriend Laura (Golshifteh Farahani) and a bulldog. He drives the bus every day to repeat the same route and calm life. Patterson likes to write poetry. He carries a notebook with him and records the poems in his mind, but he has never thought of publishing his poems in a book. His only reader is Laura. In stark contrast to Patterson, Laura is a natural artist. Every day, a variety of weird ideas flash in her head. She draws various black and white totems on curtains, walls and even her clothes, learns guitar, and makes delicious cupcakes. She is optimistic and cheerful and loves life wholeheartedly. Finally, Patterson promised Laura to print his works in a book. Will his life change?
