Kelly Overton has confirmed to join Syfy's 13-episode new sci-fi drama "Van Helsing" as the heroine. Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Paul Johansson, David Cubitt and Tim Guinee also joined. This one-hour drama is actually an adaptation of the Dracula vampire series, mainly telling the story of Van Helsing, the only surviving descendant of a warlike ethnic group, Vanessa Helsing (played by Overton), leading all mankind to resist vampires. Scarfe will play Axel, a professional marine. Despite being alone for many years, he still sticks to his oath and responsibility. Heyerdahl plays Sam, a person who survived the rise of vampires. His observation skills and strong body keep him alive. Cubitt will play John, also a survivor, but his behavior is much more impulsive, full of prejudice, suspicion and fear. Johansson will play Dimitri, now the leader of the vampire army. Guinee will play Ted, a vampire warrior with a sad past.
