The play is adapted from Douban Reading serial novel "Lost Laughter", written by Joey. It tells the story of Gu Yi (played by Shen Yue), a Shanghai-based stand-up comedian who works as a social animal during the day and performs on stage at night. She has no lofty ambitions, and her goal is to make all the audience laugh. One day, a male audience member Liang Daiwen (played by Lin Yi) sitting in the first row suddenly came. No matter the jokes or interactions, he couldn't make her laugh. Outside of the performance, he was "unromantic", which made her extremely frustrated. A woman who is "funny" to the end, and a man who "can't laugh", a love contest begins.
